Faith-Based Organizations and Asylum Seekers
The Muslim Community Center in South Brooklyn has been housing around 75 asylum seekers for the past nine months.
The center, along with other faith-based organizations, has applied to the New York City government to house migrants, and a contract has been signed with New York Disaster Interfaith Services to provide 950 beds for asylum seekers.
The Muslim center already has beds available for migrants, and they are planning to open 50 "Faith-Based Stabilization Shelters" with 19 beds each. The city plans to open 10 shelters on July 1st and gradually open 10 more each month until November.

Houses of Worship and Affordable Housing
Greater Grant Memorial AME Church has formed the Greater Community Development Corporation to buy space and build housing for their community.
AME Church also wants to help people become homeowners. Those who start out renting in the development can start putting some of the rent towards a down payment to eventually buy the home.
Their goal is to create affordable housing for young people looking to be part of a bigger community.
